Our friend, an Army buddy of my husband and mentor to my oldest son, invited us to go out on the lake with his family before Gabe left for his tour in Iraq, and we jumped at the opportunity. We spent the afternoon trying (and failing) to waterski, tubing, fishing, frogging (no, we didn't bring any home, thank goodness!), and just all around fun in the sun and lake. It was almost guilty pleasure as thousands of people still suffer down south in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. That thought sobered the ride home and intensified the appreciation of the gentle yet powerful beauty of the world around us.
That shot is just outstanding!
ReplyDeletesympathy for our southern citizens has to be tempered with practicallity, glad you had some end of season fun!!!

ReplyDeleteWater Skiing??? Forgetaboutit! One and only time I tried I ended up with rope burn (What can I say I was determined to get up! lol) in a very unmentionable place! Dorn part of what makes this country and our people so great is the way we pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off and go forward in living our lives. Nothing keeps Americans down for too long.
ReplyDeleteLove how the sun is shinning through the clouds. Glad you had fun in the sun on the lake.
ReplyDeleteDon't feel guilty. Whether it is man made or a natural disaster, we must continue to live. Never forget, pray and donate, but live. If we don't, we would all go mad.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a fabulous shot!
ReplyDeleteLove the sky & calmness of the water.
Sounds like you had a great time!
