Here are some more pictures from my encounter with the hawk and snake the other day (this one's for you justplainbill). I didn't take any pictures of their escape because my husband and I were busy 'mediating' at the time.
You caught an amazing dance with death for the hawk. I have seen on TV where some type of bird would take it's prey high up and drop it on rocks to kill it. It's a good thing you came along for the hawk. Apparently the bull snake is not venomous. Had it been a rattlesnake the hawk would have been doomed. The hawk will think twice next time before taking on a large snake no matter how hunger it is. Perhaps it has chicks to feed in which case you may have saved them also. Good going Dorn! mark
love these pics!! looks like the snake was winning....and the smile on his evil face in pic # 9 makes it look like he was well aware of it. :) great shots!! gina
Looks like something straight from the Discovery Channel. Great captures, and I understand completely why you didn't get any pictures after the release. You were no longer the photographer, but the referee.
