CRITTERS AT THE POND, June 1

According to my very basic birding skills this is a Brewer's blackbird.  He kept me company for a good hour while I sat over the man made dam at the Cattail Marsh.  At the right angle and in the right lighting the bird glows an iridescent blue.

Normally I would have been greeted by tailfeathers upon my approach but this great blue heron was obviously more hungry than afraid.  It kept one eye on me and one eye on the water.  I ended up being the one to leave first.

This is by far my favorite picture from today.  I am not arrogant enough to believe that I sneaked up undetected.  This frog hopped into the water and disappeared under the vegetation every time I approached, until the last time, when it probably got bored with the game and tolerated my intrusion just long enough for me to get this snapshot.

That frog or is it a toad shot is just outstanding!  You need to submit that one to a contest!  Great going!  Looks like a great day for photos around your neck of the woods!  Keep it up!  Lisa
