ROAD TRIP FEBRUARY 2005

My camera is slowly making its way back to me, but in the mean time I am still going through some older files.  These photos were taken in February enroute to Fort Knox, Kentucky.  I have no idea what or where the poles are in the first picture but thought it was really interesting at the time.  The large arch, or course, is the Saint Louis Arch.  It really is a neat thing to see, but it doesn't do anything, its just .... there.

My daughter doesn't understand why I took this picture, nor why I would include it on my website, but hey, I think it looks cool.  Among the many things that catch my eye are lines and shadows.  This picture presented a little feast for my eyes.

When I first saw this bus on the road in Kansas I thought it was very cool.  We played a sort of interstate-leap-frog all the way cross country and finally lost sight of it somewhere in Illinois (oops, my mistake, husband pointed out we didn't go through Ohio).

This statue stands outside the Cabelas store in Kansas.  The detail is wonderful during the day, but the statue is most striking in the night.

I was raised close to St. Louis and it is a marvel to see.  I remember seeing it all the time growing up.  You should see the view from up there!!!!!!!!!!  Next time ya pass thru there you should stop and take the trip to the top!  Man thanks for the pic...reminds me of home where I wish I could be right now!

Love the pics!  Funny you posted the arch in St. Louis and I just did an entry myself a few days back.  Have been several times, a very interesting place to visit.
The riverfront is awesome, as well as the museum and gift shop inside the base of the arch.  There is a tram ride you can take all the way to the top, but I have never been brave enough to do that with my morbid fear of height!!!!!

P.S.  Bridge looks like the one outside of Memphis on I-55, I think it is.  Been over it several times myself.

Once again, all your photos are excellent...  I've seen, driving by, the St. Louis Arch.  I wish I had been able to stop and take the tour to the top.  I understand it's quite interesting.  Trucking, there's alway lots to see and never any time to stop!  Though, I've spent hours at the Cabela's in Sidney, Nebraska!  (I think "he" wanted to stop there!)  Have a great week!

Your pics are awesome.  The bus really caught my eye. Thought it had been dumped on the roadside. Thanks.

That deer statue is wonderful.... What detail, and the darkness just makes it stand out more. As for the Arch... I used to live up that way and have been to the top of it. You should see the view from up there!

great shots!  like the lighting in the last two...interesting how the lighting can completely change a photo and add a whole new dimension and depth when it's the right lighting for the shot...

I am glad I took the time to visit this site.  The pictures are awesome.  I, too, am an amatuer photographer, just enjoying what I do.  Mostly I take family photos but am inspired by naturally beautiful scenes.  Thanks for taking the time to share your work with all of us.  Jeanne M.

Hi there I've been reading all your journals and just love them.  Your so lucky to have been able to take time off work and put the children first.  And now having the neices and nephew there will make wonderful memories for everyone.  I just wanted to say that I made a visit to St Louis in Jan. and rode up to the top of the arch it was beautiful.  Take care and enjoy the kids as you know they grow so fast.  Congratulations on the grandson he is so cute.

Great pictures!  The unknown "poles" in the picture with the St. Louis arch are from downtown Kansas City.  They are a sculpture done for the city.  Locals call them the alien towers--calling to aliens.  Keep posting!

The poles In your road trip section are in Kansas City, Missouri at Crown Center. The poles don't serve any functional pupose, they are just for looks...peices of art high in the air
