MY FIRST BEAR PICTURE

A large black bear was spotted in a tree not far from a training area and I was invited to take some pictures of it before it was shooed back to safer grounds.  The healthy bear rose at our approach but stood her ground on the bough of a huge shade tree.  It was soon discovered that she had a cub concealed in the branches higher up.  The decision was made by the wildlife officers to leave the bears alone and let them make their own way back to the safety of the nearby tree line.

My husband returned to check on the bears later in the day and found them still lounging in the shade of the great branches.  The cub even poked its head out for a quick introduction before settling back down for a nap next to Mama.  You can see his pictures at: BEAR COUNTRY

A super dooper big 'THANKS!' to the guys who gave me this golden opportunity... (not sure I'm allowed to give names, but you guys know who you are.... THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!)

I've seen that look before....I'm hungry, and I'm going to eat you if you don't go away.  Great picture, don't know if I would have the nerve to get so close.

Dorn,
It is an awesome sight isn't it!  I have had 5 or 6 bear sightings, one face to face, 30 feet between us.  They are beautiful animals.  Congratulations on you photo.  David

How wonderful.  I envy you your wildlife in the nicest possible way. No bears over here as you know.

Great bear shot, you were so lucky to be able to take it! I've seen a couple of bears when I've been in the States, one was a tiny cub sitting in the middle of the road at Shenondoah NP, he was eating some blackberries and looked so cute, his mum was close by watching! Jeannette xx

Was there a cat at the bottom of the tree?
Pretty cool. The only face to face encounter with a bear I have had was at the garbage dump.

Great pictures here.  We just recently went to Yellowstone and we didn't see one bear!         Dawn

Oh, how cool.  We are missing the cool air in Colorado. It is 94 degrees at almost midnight, and so sticky that you sweat the second you step outside.
