WHERE THE DEER AND THE ANTELOPE PLAY

My little excursion yesterday put me in sight of almost a dozen nice buck muledeer.  That is never the case when I am hunting.  Animals are smart, they can smell a license on a person and know if they are hunting or not.

I love photographing pronghorn antelope soley because of their eyes.  They have the most beautiful eyes.  My dream is to get close enough to zoom in on just the eyes.  (hint hint honey, must get a bigger zoom!)

These little pine roses decorate the tips of the pinon trees up and down the canyons and hillsides.  They are actually a sort of pine cone which when it opens, drops pinon or pinenuts all over the ground.  The small nuts are a favorite snack for some of the wild creatures that live in the pinon  groves.

We saw our share of the mule deer and the antelope while we were out there.  At least now, I can still see them through your eyes.  Great photos as usual, Jody.

Blessings!

I have found that deer have an internal calandar and internal GPS positioning systems so that when deer season begins they know to head to private land that does not get hunted.  Or national preserves.  Either way they leave. http://www.myoutdoors.tv

Well, how about that, Jody! I had heard on "Cheers", reference to pine nuts and wondered what the heck those were. My new aunt in California sent me a couple packages of pine nuts so I could try them. Gosh, those nuts are BIG! I can't imagine the size of cone that made them and who would sit forever and harvest them from the cones. You say they FALL out? The biggest cones we have in Georgia only have flat seeds maybe the size of sunflower seeds and man, talk about the hard work and finger pokes to get those few out!

That antelope picture is wonderful.... I know what you mean about eyes. I'm working on a study of doing close-ups of eyes of several animals, but it comes slowly as the animal doesn't always co-operate <LOL>
