Photographs really only show the viewers what the photographer wants them to see. Here I show a clear stream flowing down between softly padded banks shaded by weathered trees. What you don't see is the polluted foam that swirls atop the water's surface beneath the bridge I was standing on, or the stained and frozen mattresses and other garbage carelessly discarded over the side into the water below. Such blatant disregard for the earth by its very own citizens leaves me so frustrated that I don't know whether to scream or cry!

so true...photos only see what you want people to see....profound Jody! Shame about the pollution in what otherwise would be such a peaceful spot...

So true! We belong to a club that collects garbage along the roadsides here in Wisconsin, twice a year. It's the cigarette butts that sends me off on a rampage. Despite the pollution, you are able to see the serenity of this place. ~Deborah
How true! I have always asked my children to leave their surroundings cleaner than they found them, by picking up some sort of debris before we leave. Of course, I too pitch in as an example. What really saddens me, especially as a Native American is the way that the roads are horribly littered, as one drives into many Indian Casinos. We say we honor the Earth, yet drop beer bottles, cans and other litter, and if we've we're not the ones to drop it, then shouldn't we keep the area clean for our guests? And, the image it portrays! Sad. Lisa
hey mom its me gabe. thers a picture that you to of a tree a couple stoires or journals back. the one that hangs over the road. thats the HAUNTED TREE. i guess a few years before we moved to colorado some kid hung himself on that tree. and every now and then you can see him on that tree.

It is so sad that there are folks out there who have such a blatant disregard for nature. It makes me VERY angry and I am sure God shakes his head and wonders why he ever created man.
